Des Moines International Airport is set to welcome a new addition to its flight schedule with American Airlines’ announcement of a daily direct flight to New York. The second to the city in the Northeast of the United States.
Starting June 2, American Airlines will operate the service, departing Des Moines at 6:30 a.m. The flight lands at LaGuardia Airport at 10:10 a.m. The airliner of choice will be the 76-seat Embraer ERJ-175. A return flight will be scheduled from New York at 6 p.m. to land at Des Moines airport at 8:10 p.m.
American Airlines does not face competition on this route. The American company offers daily non-stop service between Des Moines and New York.
The national carrier of the United States offers direct flights to Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix and Washington, as well as a non-stopover seasonal flight to Miami. Prior to this new service, American’s flights between Des Moines and New York required a stopover in Chicago, Washington or Charlotte, North Carolina
Other novelties are announced by the continental airline in New York
American Airlines in New York continues to strengthen its flight program in New York. The United States air carrier has announced the reopening of its route connecting its JFK hub to Toronto – Pearson, whose last flight served between the two destinations dates back to December 17, 2019.
As before, this flight is now operated by American Eagle which will use an E175 aircraft. The airline maintains the same flight schedule, which operates in a period of 72 minutes: Take-off from New York airport at 9:41 a.m. for a scheduled landing at Lester Pearson at 10:52 a.m.
According to Cirium, the number of seats offered on this route should reach 2,128, an increase of 72.7 compared to the number of seats offered before the suspension of the route.
In order to celebrate the resumption of its flights between this line, the airline American Airlines has launched a promotion on its plane tickets. Fares are displayed at 309 USD round trip.
With this new connection, the number of seats offered by American Airlines on its routes serving Canada will exceed 32,600 seats per week.
The American company’s flight schedule to Toronto in Canada also includes flights from Miami (two daily frequencies in E175), and from Chicago O’Hare (five flights a day, operated in Embraer ERJ 145 and Bombardier CRJ-700).
The US carrier also serves the Canadian destination from its hub at Philadelphia International Airport using an ERJ 145.
End of activities on the New York – Chile line
In parallel with the strengthening of its operations from its base in New York – JFK, American Airlines has announced that it has ended its flights serving the capital of Chile from the airport of the mythical city of the United States, lack of performance. It served its last flight to Santiago-Arturo Merino Benitez on January 4th. The frequency was ensured in a jumbo jet of type 777-200ER (37 + 24 + 212).
